The Museum 'Ras' in Novi Pazar in its fifty-five years of functioning has interpolated into the line of the most eminent institutions in the interior of Serbia. In its work two periods can be seceded: twenty-year long work characterized by collecting of a considerable number of valuable objects, especially ethnological ones, and the period following the production of the permanent exhibition, which become as a result of provision of space and employment of skilled staff. Trough both periods, the Museum has been developing all forms of museum-related work, growing over time from a modest collection into a complex type museum encompassing all areas of human activity, from history, through archeology, numismatics, ethnology, applied arts to contemporary art. The collections were elaborated by using contemporary methods of production of documentation researched also by expert and scientific published works.

The Museum enjoyed support in the local community as well. The Municipality of Novi Pazar, the founder of the Museum, is in the whole the main source of finances. The big financial support the Museum provided by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, which financed all archeological research and the Novopazarski Zbornik.

On this occasion, we would like to extend thanks to all our friends and numerous partners, above all to those who interwoven their work in make called the Museum. We also proffer gratitude to all our fellow citizens who showed continued interest in our work and participated in all events we were able to stage for the public.

The road we have been traveling in these fifty-five years through various historical, cultural and economic phases testifies that our Museum is a vital institution which through its work, results and enthusiasm fully contributed to valuation of cultural heritage on its catchment area.
